Meeting with representatives of institutions and NGOs working in the water sector... Water Authority: "We are urgently working to address the damage caused to the water sector by the recent Israeli aggression"

Ramallah: The Water Authority held a meeting with representatives of civil institutions and organizations working in the water sector to discuss the latest developments related to the damage caused to the water sector due to the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which caused great losses to the infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities.

The competent team briefed the attendees on the priorities of the Water Authority to avoid water and environmental disaster, to develop joint working mechanisms for cooperation and unification of efforts with all institutions and organizations working in the water sector, to ensure the continued operation of treatment and desalination plants, repair pumping stations and some main lines and to provide urgent assistance to citizens in the Gaza Strip, noting that there is a need to provide financial funding of up to $12 million urgently.

During the meeting, the NGOs and organizations presented the support that was provided in terms of fuel, chemicals, equipment, maintenance work, etc., to operate the main water and wastewater facilities, and what is being provided in particular, stressing the importance of cooperation to issue a detailed and report on the damages inflicted on the sector.

The Water Authority stressed the importance of the intervention of all partners to support vital facilities in the Gaza Strip, which have been severely damaged, especially the water sector, and to work hard to provide urgent support to avoid the impending environmental catastrophe.
