Head of Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghuneim, met in his office today the Consul General of Spain, Mr. Rafael Matos, and the delegation accompanying to view the new program that the Spanish government intends to lunch in the field of water.
Mr. Matos explained that the main objective of this program is to contribute to the process of sustainable water management in the Mediterranean region, which includes three main aspects, namely the comprehensive management of water, the development and improvement of water and sanitation services effectively, and the efficient use of water resources for irrigation purposes through the modernization and development of operating systems to support communities in environmental, economic and social terms.
He confirmed also that this program will be launched in 28-29 next month in Madrid, with the participation of several countries, including Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Greece, Morocco and Palestine represented by the Water Authority.
In this regard, Eng. Ghuneim expressed his happiness with this program and the objectives it seeks to achieve as it intersects with the objectives and plans that the Water Authority seeks to implement, particularly those relating to the institutional system, governance, and management of water sources. Pointing out to the importance of developing work and partnership between the two sides and seeking to sign a memorandum of understanding aimed to develop the work and enhance cooperation through the exchange of information and experience between the two countries in all water fields.
