Ramallah: Head of the Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim, received the representative from the Republic of Austria in Palestine, Mrs. Astrid Wein, in his office to discuss joint cooperation to support the trends of the Water Authority which aimed at developing work in the water sector in various aspects to strengthen the water sector, developing work in strategic programs, and projects aimed at raising the level of services in the water sector.
During the meeting, Eng.Ghunaim stressed the nature of the work in the water sector and the challenges it faces, noting that it requires the development of the institutional aspect of the sector. The Water Authority has worked to devise new plans in this aspect, highlighting the importance of the support provided by Austria in this regard.
For her part, Mrs. Wein emphasized the Austrian government's interest in the water sector and its briefing on the plans and programs that the Water Authority seeks to implement despite all the challenges facing its work at various levels. Stressing that the projects that are being achieved are achieved through great efforts on the ground.
She also emphasized Austria's interest in supporting various aspects of the Water Authority's development plan, to bring it into line with the reform program and strategic plans for the sector. These are aimed at developing it and improving the service provided, where it is currently working to support the project coordination unit that oversees the implementation of the rolling interventions program to supply the Gaza Strip with sustainable water.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to work toward establishing a program aimed at strengthening the role of the Water Authority to carry out its tasks and develop the sector.
