Minister Mazen Ghunaim discussed with Yemeni counterpart, Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Tawfiq Al Sharjabi the promoting cooperation in the field of developing the water sector.
The meeting held on the sidelines of the Planet Summit in the Hungarian capital Budapest discussed the possibility of signing an agreement to exchange technical expertise to face water challenges and ways to strengthen Arab cooperation within the framework of the decisions of the Arab Water Council.
Minister Ghunaim reviewed the challenges facing the Palestinian water sector resulting from the Israeli occupation policy aimed at depriving the Palestinian people of their water rights. He also touched on the main existing programs and projects that the Water Authority is working on with its partners to improve water and sanitation services and save the disastrous environmental situation in Gaza. He noted that the Water Authority seeks to raise the capacity of workers in the water sector in cooperation with many States to benefit from their experiences in various fields.
For his part, Al-Sharjabi stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination between the two parties and affirmed his country’s support to the Palestinian efforts in the field of water.
