Ramallah: The Head of PWA, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim, met in his office today, the representative of UNICEF in Palestine, Ms. Lucia Elmi, to discuss work developments in water projects in the West Bank and Gaza and the future cooperation programs and projects proposed for implementation, with regard to the needs of the water sector.
The meeting discussed UNICEF's support for the water sector in the West Bank and Gaza, including the preparation for the implementation of the Yatta water network rehabilitation project, which is expected to be launched by the end of this year, the expansion of phase II and III desalination plant, which is expected to be completed by the middle of next year, is also underway, along with urgent support under the Corona pandemic.
Eng. Ghunaim also touched on a series of priority programs that the Water Authority is implementing to address the water situation in terms of water shortages in the West Bank and to provide potable water in Gaza, stressing the importance of the study being prepared by UNICEF on climate change, and praising UNICEF's cooperation and the rapid response in various fields.
