Ramallah: The Head of the Water Authority discussed with the Director of Good- Neighborliness in the European Union, Mrs. Cinzia Tarletti, and the accompanying delegation the current and future programs funded by the European Union and the future aspirations for cooperation between the two sides to support the water and wastewater sector and the existing work mechanisms.
The meeting discussed the next steps for implementing strategic projects for the Palestinian water sector, especially the current developments in preparation for the establishment of the central desalination plant in the Gaza Strip.
Eng. Ghunaim stressed the importance of cooperation between the two sides in completing the support and implementation of EU-funded projects in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and allocating the funding for additional projects in line with the Water Authority's programs being implemented with the framework of infrastructure development and institutional reform. He stressed the importance of developing the work of service providers to ensure improved efficiency of the service provided to citizens as the Water Authority seeks to establish water facilities based on efficient and sustainable foundations.
Minister Ghunaim briefed his guest on the current developments in wastewater projects, such as the Tayasir and Hebron plant projects, as well as the linking program in Jenin and Ramallah.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to complete coordination and cooperation in the implementation of strategic projects for the water sector to ensure the provision of additional quantities of water to citizens.
