The head of the Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim, received in his office today the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Riad Al-Attari, to discuss cooperation in common issues that serve the agriculture sector and work to provide the necessary needs for its development.
Minister Ghunaim stressed the importance of the plans developed by the Water Authority to provide treated water and use it in the agricultural sector because of its importance in preserving the agricultural area on the one hand and providing drinking water on the other.
In this regard, he explained the importance of the agricultural sector, and the importance of uniting efforts to integrate work and take appropriate measures to ensure the preservation of this vital sector.
For his part, Dr. Al-Attari stressed that the cooperation and working mechanisms put forward by the Water Authority contribute to supporting and alleviating the challenges faced by the Palestinian agricultural sector related to water, which is the basis of the development of any sector, and comes in line with what the Ministry of Agriculture is doing to find solutions to ensure the fair distribution of water and the fulfillment of farmers' rights.
The two sides also discussed a range of issues and programs that require finding appropriate solutions by the Ministry of Agriculture, the most important of which is the activation of water user associations to carry out the tasks entrusted to them optimally.
The two ministers also agreed that coordination in the technical aspect between the competent committees of both parties to discuss common issues and problems and develop appropriate solutions and mechanisms for their implementation to be activated by the competent authorities.
