The Water Authority held the second meeting of the Special Technical Committee to develop a concept for the establishment of wastewater treatment plants and their use in the agricultural sector, in the presence of representatives of the committee from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Energy Authority, and the Environment Authority, in addition to a representative of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
PWA presented a draft work plan for the projects and proposed interventions to be implemented during the period 2023-2027 to increase the quantities of treated sewage water in the agricultural sector and mitigate the cross-border wastewater treated within the Green Line, to reduce the deductions made by the Israeli side from the clearance funds under the pretext of wastewater treatment.
During the workshop, perceptions were developed regarding the role of the competent authorities in implementing these projects, interventions and monitoring mechanisms, ways to encourage the reuse of treated water holistically, and the application of the treated water reuse policy in the agricultural sector as a national governmental policy aimed at achieving the integrated management of water resources management.
