Ramallah – Minister Mazen Ghoneim met in his office today with a group of specialists from the US Geological Survey Institution,the group included Dr. Jak Kleston, Mr. Verne Schneider. Also in attendance was Eng.Deep Abdul Ghafoor, General Manager of the Water Resources Department in Water Authority. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss methodology for technical cooperation between the two parties with regard to remote monitoring systems of water sources, groundwater and surface water.
The two parties agreed to conduct a study of the proposed project to install remote monitoring system of flood water in some of the valleys of the West Bank, as well as ways in which to develop the remote monitoring of existing facilities and wells and linking them with the GIS system in future.
The importance of training a Palestinian team on the monitoring systems in order to ensure the success of the work was also discussed during the meeting.
The Water Authority is seeking continuously within its strategic plan to develop the water sector in all aspects because of its advantage on saving time, effort and money as well as developing its work to keep up with the world with regard to advanced scientific applications.
