Marrakesh- Head of Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghuneim met with the Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water of Morocco, Mr. Abdelkader Amara, and discussed the prospects for reinforcing cooperation between the two countries in the development of the water sector, this came on the sidelines of the International Summit on Water Security, organized by the Moroccan Ministry.
Eng. Ghuneim addressed the most important challenges facing the Palestinian water sector, which are all the result of Israel's arbitrary water policies , as well as the most important existing programs and projects that the Water Authority is working on with its partners to improve water and sanitation services, and save the disastrous environmental situation in Gaza.
For his part, Mr. Amara stressed his country’s continuing support for the Palestinian people, arising from the historical position of the Moroccan government in supporting the Palestinian cause, stressing his keenness to renew and activate the existing agreement between the two countries in terms of form in the areas of raising capacity and exchange of technical expertise to serve the Water Authority in the implementation of its plan.
The two sides also discussed ways of strengthening joint Arab cooperation through the Arab Water Council, where several issues of concern to the Arab region, such as shared water issues, and the Arab water security strategy, were raised.
