During his presidency of the third forum for graduates of the Medric Water Research Program ... Minister Ghunaim: "Keeping pace with technological development and adopting alternative technologies contributes to solving the problems and challenges of the water sector."

Head of Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim, opened the third Forum for graduates of the Medric Water Research Program,  held through the visual system, entitled: "Entrepreneurship towards innovative solutions for tomorrow's generation", with the participation of the Vice President of An-Najah National University Allam Mousa, Mr. Ciarán Ó Cuinn, Director of the Middle East Center for Desalination Research,  Palestinian university professors, specialized experts, representatives of several private sector institutions and civil institutions.

Minister Ghunaim  opened his speech by emphasizing the close link between investment in the youth category, the interest in education and scientific research, and this is what the Water Authority has worked on over the past years, which has contributed to building strategic relationships with Palestinian universities in many projects and programs, especially related to scientific research, to keep up with technological development, which has become the key to dealing with modern life, and to adopt alternative technologies in solving the problems and challenges of the water sector.

Eng. Ghunaim also stressed that The Medric Program to support researchers in the water sector is an important step in its technical and supervisory follow-up of various researches in all stages, with joint and integrated work efforts between universities, the Water Authority and the Medric Center. This work and joint collaboration spanning more than 10 years has resulted in the support of 225 master's students and 10 doctoral students, as well as support for 30 creative initiatives in the Gaza Strip, and the development of a specialized Doctoral Program in the Gaza Strip. As well as the opening of the desalination unit for research purposes at Al-Azhar University to serve students of Gaza universities, the development of a special program to support applied research, and the holding of several training courses to exchange experiences and knowledge in various water fields, which contributed to the graduation of a class of Palestinian youth capable of taking responsibility, developing the water sector and contributing to its challenges.

 Ghunaim explained that the Water Authority, in cooperation with partners, seeks to have an effective role for these scientific researches, by taking it out of the theoretical space into the practical, and for a sound approach to be developed, adopted, experimented and applied, so that the Water Authority seeks to network with supportive and specialized business incubators and institutions in the field of water, environment, and agriculture, to provide the necessary support to the creators of students with pioneering ideas in the water and sanitation sector. Ghunaim added: "We look forward to creative ideas by young people that lead them to excellence in the labor market, so that they can meet the challenges and rise to their ambitions to establish development companies that serve them and their country."

For his part, Dr. Mousa talked about the importance of reinforcing and improving the quality of scientific research and finding programs supporting this field to obtain ideas and creative projects that we can build on in the future, pointing out that the Medric program  has contributed to supporting and motivating students of An-Najah University, especially in the fields of engineering and chemistry by providing appropriate training support, which contributed to increasing the number of scientific research, adding that through this fruitful cooperation, all parties are seeking to establish an incubator and research institution capable of providing the local and international community with innovations that serve the community and achieve a transformation in this important sector.

 Director of the Middle East Center, praised the efforts of the various parties in guiding students and opening new horizons in research work, investing in new aspects that harness technology to create entrepreneurial projects that serve the water sector.
