Ramallah: Head of Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghuneim signed a memorandum of understanding with the president of Al-Aqsa University, Dr. Kamal Sharafi, for financing a desalination unit at the University.
During the meeting, Eng. Ghuneim said that this unit works with a capacity of up to 50 cubic meters per day and used for the benefit of students and workers in the university which suffers from problems of water salinity and pollution.
He added that the financial cost of the unit amounted to 31 thousand dollars Funded by Human Appeal Foundation, where the Water Authority worked on the processing of technical bids and began implementing the project at the end of August last year to be fully completed all the work required by the end of January of this year, so that more than 27 thousand students benefit from the service of the desalination plant.
It is noteworthy that the Water Authority within its development plans seeks to improve water and sanitation services to citizens in the Gaza Strip in line with improving the quality of water used by citizens.
