Head of Water Authority Eng. Mazen Ghoneim met with the Director of the World Bank mission in Palestine, Mrs Marina Weiss , in the framework of joint cooperation between the two parties and view the functioning of water projects financed by the World Bank.
The meeting was discussed a sewage plant project of northern Gaza that recently finished its work after overcoming all obstacles facing the project including those related to the provision of electricity and intensified action for starting it, Where the Minister explained that the water authority work actively to start the project over the next few weeks, stressing the importance of this project for the Gaza Strip and the eagerness of the water authority to run it and ensure its sustainability through institutional development for effective management of this project though hard reality facing Gaza Strip.
The parties also discussed the Hebron water desalination plant project and steps that are working out in order to proceed to initiate project implementation, in this regard, Eng.Ghoneim pointed out that the water authority is currently working on updating the environmental study of the project and develop a clear plan of action to overcome all obstacles.
He also referred to what has been done in the preparation of the desalination plant project, where scheduling donor conference next month, which is an important and fundamental role in providing financial support for this important and vital strategic project, valuing the World Bank's efforts in this regard in support of the project as well as its role as a key partner and supporter of the water sector.
