Ramallah: Head of Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim, Dr. Tawfiq Al Budeiri, undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Ibrahim Saad, mayor of Birzeit, and Amjad Awad, chairman of the Jaffna Village Council, signed today a memorandum of understanding between Birzeit municipality and the Jaffna Village Council, which includes improving sewage services in Birzeit by connecting the Birzeit sewage system to the sewage line passing through the Village of Jaffna, after conducting the necessary technical examination of the sewage line on Jaffna land by the Water Authority specialists, which qualified the connection between the sewage line in Birzeit_ Jaffna.
This project contributes to solving the problem of wastewater flow in the region temporarily until the implementation of the integrated sewage system project for the north-east of Ramallah, which the Water Authority has recently completed its own technical and environmental studies, and is in the process of providing financial funding for this vital project, which is one of the priorities of the projects that the Water Authority seeks to implement within its strategic plan.
During the meeting, Minister Ghunaim and Dr. Al Budeiri emphasized the work in parallel to continue supporting and developing service aspects in these areas and other gatherings to end all the problems and challenges facing citizens in this field.
Eng. Ghunaim also valued the constructive and fruitful cooperation between Birzeit and Jaffna village, which is a positive model to be emulated. It is an example of joint action and cooperation to develop the relationship between service providers to improve water and wastewater services.
