New Delhi: During his participation in the Mahatma Gandhi Sanitation Conference, Head of Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghoneim met with the water and sanitation Minister, Uma Bharati, and the Deputy Minister Parmshoran, with the participation of Palestinian Ambassador to India Adnan Abu Haija .where Eng. Ghoneim congratulated them for the success of the Conference and success in eliminating the biggest phenomenon constitute a direct threat to people's health and the environment which is the defecation in the open, due to the lack of sanitary latrines where India was able to reduce the number of these populations from 600 million to 100 million in 4 years ,this phenomenon will be eliminated in October 2019 in the 149 anniversary of Mahatma birth.
Eng.Ghoneim briefed the Indian side on the situation of water and sanitation in Palestine, in particular, the occupation control over Palestinian water sources and the tight closure on the Gaza Strip as well as briefed them of the most important achievements in the water sector, despite all the challenges.
For her part, Mrs. Bharati express her interest in Palestinian experience which is quite different from its counterpart in India, in this context, the two sides expressed their willingness to develop their relations in the water and sanitation sector and the parties will arrange for the preparation of the memorandum of understanding for joint cooperation through the competent authorities.
