Ramallah: Water Authority organized a specialized workshop on the guide to maintenance of water supply systems in Palestine to target technicians and operating and maintenance staff working for water service providers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The workshop was attended by representatives of donors and partners, representatives from the Ministry of Works, the Water Authority, the Standards Institution, the Engineers Union, the Contractors Union, and the Hydrologists Group and the municipalities of Tulkarem, Nablus, and Qalqilya.

During the workshop, it was confirmed that the development of the first draft of the system maintenance manual comes within the framework of the draft water sector reform plan undertaken by the Palestinian Water Authority, specifically within the item of reviewing specifications and standards related to the design and operation of water and sanitation systems in Palestine. These include the development of a manual for the operation and maintenance of water and sanitation systems. This draft is a review of the first draft of the manual and comes with the support of Secours Islamic France (SIF).

The guide aims to help service providers and technicians working in the operation and maintenance of water supply and sanitation systems in identifying the most basic rules of operation and maintenance to ensure better services for the Palestinian citizen and to ensure the management of the supply services with high efficiency in a manner that guarantees the continuation of both sources and services and ensures safe and environmental conditions free from pollution.
