Ramallah: Prime Minister Dr. Rami Al-Hamdallah received at his office in Ramallah the report of the Water Authority 2015-2017 from the head of the Water Authority Eng.Mazen Ghoneim.
The Prime Minister was briefed by Eng.Mazen Ghoneim and the accompanying delegation, on the current progress of the projects implemented in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank governorates, especially in the areas called "C"., he also briefed on efforts in water and sanitation desalination projects in Gaza.
He also reviewed the report, which deals with what has been achieved in the water sector in all provinces, which indicates the completion of more than 46 major water and sanitation projects in the northern governorates with an estimated cost of $140 million and more than 54 projects in the southern governorates with an estimated cost of $ 63 million. Furthermore, there are current efforts to implement more than 53 strategic projects in the northern and southern governorate with an estimated cost of $ 617 million.
The report pointed out that the water authority has concentrated on projects in the 'c' regions, particularly marginalized groups, and implemented a series of projects involving extension of water lines, rehabilitation of water networks, drilling of collection wells and distribution of water, by approximately 20 civil organizations and local and international actors and nearly 45 million dollar over the last three years.
Al-Hamdallah expressed his full support for the efforts of the Water Authority in overcoming various obstacles, thanking Eng.Ghoneim and all the technical and administrative staff for their efforts to promote this important and dynamic sector, overcoming problems in many governorates, and providing services to citizens, despite various challenges, especially violations of the occupation and control of the natural resources of our people. Pointed to the continuous communication with all international parties to ensure the implementation of the desalination project in Gaza, stressing its importance role in alleviating the suffering of citizens in the sector and providing clean water to them.
Eng.Ghoneim expressed his thanks and appreciation to President Mahmoud Abbas, and the Prime Minister for their great support for the water sector, adding that this support has had a significant impact on the achievement in the water sector.
