Ramallah - The head of the Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghneim, met today with the Indian Ambassador to the State of Palestine Anish Rajan, to discuss the promotion of joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields, the most important of which are the sanitation sector and training programmes for capacity-building and exchange of experiences in this field.
Eng.Ghoneim briefed the Indian Ambassador on the most important issues related to the water sector in Palestine and the Israeli control over Palestinian water sources, the water crisis faced by the Palestinian people as a result of this control, and the impending catastrophe in the Gaza Strip in the year 2020, which suffers from lack of potable water.
The meeting addressed ways to enhance and strengthen the cooperative relationship in the areas of water and sanitation, particularly as the Republic of India is a friendly States and supportive of the Palestinian people.
For his part, Ambassador Anish presented a formal invitation to the head of the water authority to participate in the first International Conference organized by India at the end of September to early October, which marks the birthday of the leader Mahatma Gandhi, the Conference highlights sanitation issues and future prospects in this area with the aim of presenting many experiences of participating countries and discuss their challenges, along with the use of modern technology in this area.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Anish expressed the readiness of the Republic of India to provide the necessary support in capacity building, specifically in the field of sanitation through cooperation with the Water Authority and benefit from shared experiences in this field.
