Ramallah: The Head of PWA, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim received in his office today, the Director of the French Development Agency’s office in Palestine, Mr. Martin Parent, to discuss several issues related to the implementation of the ongoing and planned projects by the French Agency in the West Bank and Gaza.
The meeting discussed the technical aspects of several strategic projects being designed and implemented, such as the Water connecting point project in the northwest of Ramallah and Jenin, which will develop the water system and increase the quantities of water supplied in the target areas at the wholesale level. The development of the Hebron sewage treatment plant project, the Water and Energy Project in Tubas, as well as the sewage treatment project in Misilyah, as well as the Water Availability and Agricultural Adaptation to Climate Changes Program in the Gaza Strip, and the development of an integrated training program for the workers in the water sector.
Eng. Ghunaim stressed the importance of the vital projects being implemented with the support of the AFD and the active follow-up by the PWA's crews to ensure the design and implementation of the projects and take the necessary actions to confront obstacles and challenges to ensure the improvement of water and sanitation services at the national level.
For his part, Mr. Parent praised the role played by the Palestinian Water Authority in following up the implementation of projects. He also affirmed the support of the French Agency for the implementation of strategic projects and readiness to support the Water Authority to prepare a proposal for a comprehensive program for the treatment of wastewater and its reuse in agriculture.
