Ramallah: The Head of the Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim, and the Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Mr. Tokumitsu Kobayashi met today, to discuss the strategic priorities of water and wastewater projects in the Palestinian water sector, which contributes to the development of infrastructure and improved service for citizens.
Minister Ghunaim briefed his guest on the reality of the water sector, challenges and plans, as well as the achievements of the Water Authority in collaboration with partners, which consisted of the implementation of major and important projects that contributed to improving the water supply in many areas, as well as the Water Authority’s plans for water sector development through the implementation of a series of strategic projects in the West Bank and Gaza, in particular, the Central Desalination Plant Project, which is a vital project for Gaza.
For his part, Mr. Kobayashi affirmed his readiness to cooperate to provide financial support to support priority strategic projects of the Water Authority in cooperation with countries and donors.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold further meetings at the technical level to discuss all issues related to project priorities and implementation.
