Ramallah: Dr. Ziad Mimi, Head of the Water Authority, stressed today the importance of accelerating work and taking tangible steps to implement several strategic projects, that have a direct impact on the Palestinian citizens in reducing wastewater problems and minimizing Israeli deductions of Palestinian funds. This came during his meeting with Mr. Denis Jordy, Director of Programs at the World Bank in Palestine, in the presence of Dr. Iyad Al-Ramal, the infrastructure expert at the World Bank, Dr. Tawfiq Al Badeeri, Director of the National Water Company, and Mr. Najoud Abdo, Dr. Muath Abu Sa'da, Mr. Rowan Issa, and Mr. Ziad Daraaghma from the Water Authority.

The meeting addressed the "Tulkarem - Jordan Valley Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Project," emphasizing its significance in reducing the deductions made by the Israeli side under the pretext of treating wastewater, supplying agricultural water to the water-scarce Jordan Valley, generating clean energy, and promoting economic and social development, while also protecting the environment from pollution.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the “Project to Improve Bulk Water in the Jenin area”. The project aims to provide additional water quantities from Salfit and Al-Jalama, estimated at around 22,500 cubic meters per day for five underserved villages: Beit Qad, north and south, Deir Abu Da'if, and Arabuna, in addition to completing the Jalbunah network. The discussion included the progress of establishing the Water Company and its future steps.

The Head of the Water Authority emphasized the importance of prioritizing and working according to the needs that contribute to serving the citizens and supporting governmental objectives to enhance the water situation.
