Minister Ghunaim reviews water situation in Beit Furik

Ramallah: The Head of the Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim reviewed the water situation and the water and sanitation needs of Beit Furik.

During his field tour in the town, Minister Ghunaim stated that water is a humanitarian issue, and the Water Authority always seeks to meet the needs of all communities according to the available capabilities, noting in this aspect that strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian citizen is the first strategic goal to face the occupation’s measures in the targeted areas, as the occupation follows a systematic policy aimed to empty the land from its inhabitants.

Minister Ghunaim listened to a detailed explanation of the town’s needs. The needs focused on the urgent need to expand the current water network to increase the percentage of beneficiaries in the urban expansion areas, as well as rehabilitating the existing network to improve the level of water supply services, reduce the high operational costs resulting from the damaged pipes and high loss levels, and reduce the use of high-cost tank water.

Minister Ghunaim stressed the importance of moving forward with Beit Furik Sewage Project and the commitment to cover the municipal contribution to start the implementation of the project funded by the German government and the European Union as the largest sewage project in Nablus governorate, instructing the technical teams to cooperate with municipal teams to complete the lists of needs according to well-studied plans that cover the town's current and future needs to be included in the Water Authority's plan.
