Today, Thursday, the Head of the PWA, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim briefed the Director-General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of International and European Affairs, Ambassador Desiree Schweitzer, accompanied by the Director of the Austrian Development Agency in Vienna, Ambassador Friedrich Stift, on the situation of the Palestinian water sector.
Eng. Ghunaim stressed the importance of the Austrian government's support and cooperation in implementing many programs that contribute to developing the water sector and enhancing services provided to citizens in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which extended to include many aspects such as the institutional and administrative aspect as well as the implementation of projects.
During the meeting, Ghunaeim touched on the challenges and obstacles facing the Palestinian water sector, which is a mainstay for other service sectors, and the occupation comes on top through the obstacles it imposes on the development of this sector.
In the same context, Eng.Ghunaim stressed that the Water Authority has implemented many projects that have contributed to avoiding the disaster in the sector and significantly improving the water situation, referring to the equipment of the central desalination plant.
