During the opening of a water reservoir, water transmission pipeline and pumping station for the village of Iraq Burin…Minister Ghunaim: 'The occupation prevents and fights the implementation of any water project.'

Iraq Burin: the head of PWA, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim, inaugurated today a vital water project in Iraq Burin village, which consists of a water reservoir with a capacity of 300 cubic meters, a pumping station with a capacity of 25 cubic meters per hour, and the installation of a water transmission pipeline for the village, which is a development project funded from the budget of the Water Authority with a financial value of more than 395 thousand dollars.

Eng.Ghunaim explained that this project comes as a second phase to complement what was implemented in the first phase of the construction of the water network, which was implemented earlier to cover the needs of the village and the sustainability of water service, and therefore, Iraq Burin will enjoy the access of water to all its communities. This is what we seek to work on in all Palestinian areas by providing the services needed by the citizens, especially water, to strengthen the steadfastness of citizens and to confront the brutal occupation policy that fights and prevents the implementation of any water project, adding that the occupation stole our water and took control of our sources and also wants to deprive the Palestinians of them.

Eng.Ghunaim added that Iraq’s Burin region, which has a population of 1200 people, was suffering from lack of access to water and was not serviced by an internal water system to provide homes with potable water, and its residents rely on a spring near the village or collecting rainwater in winter to meet their water needs. Therefore, Water Authority implemented a project to establish a water distribution network and home connections from its development budget with a total value of 650 thousand dollars to include the supply and installation of iron pipes of different diameters and the supply and installation of water meters prepaid to ensure effective management of the water system and the sustainability of its work, in addition to enabling the Burin village council to provide better and fair service.

Eng.Ghunaim also pointed out that by completing the work, we were able to improve the water system status of the village by reducing the network losses and reducing the maintenance burdens on the local council, to contribute to the sustainability and improvement of water service for all houses in the village.

For her part, Mrs. Annan Al-Atira, the representative of the Governor of Nablus, expressed her pride in the completion of this project for Iraq Burin, a region which has long suffered in the water issue, and appreciated the efforts made and culminated in the completion of this project, stressing that any achievement on the ground and serve the citizen is a success in the development of our cities and villages and provide vital services to citizens.
