Head of Water Authority inaugurates water projects in Tulkarm

Ramallah: Head of Water Authority Eng. Mazen Ghuneim inaugurates Qaffin Water Network rehabilitation project, funded by the development budget of the Water Authority in an amount of more than 3 million shekels , as the project works to expand the existing water network  to include neighbourhoods and homes not connected to the water network, improve the distribution of drinking water in the municipality, dispose of agricultural pipes, as well as to reduce the percentage of losses after the replacement of many old and worn water pipes.

Eng.Ghuneim and the accompanying staff went to Baqa al-Sharqiya and AL-Nazlat, to inspect  the work in the Sanitation project which is implemented in the area of Baqa Al-Sharqiya ,An- Nazla Al-Sharqiya, An-Nazla Al-Gharbiya, An-Nazla Al-Wasta , Nazlat 'Isa ,Zeita ,through the United Nations development programme  and funded by the Netherlands with a value of  6.7 million dollar , the length of the drainage lines to be implemented is more than 30 km and two pumping stations expected to be completed by the year 2020.

Eng. Ghuneim concluded his inspection visit to the municipality of Ellar, where he met the Chairman and members of Municipal Council and the heads of the councils in the Shaarawy area, and listened to the needs of Ellar village and surrounding areas to projects to improve water and sanitation services, as they were also briefed on the Water Authority's plans to improve sanitation services in the region, with completion of the water network rehabilitation in Deir al-Ghusun with a budget of 4 million shekels, and work is underway to prepare for a tender design of sewage networks covering Atil, Ellar, Saida, Deir al-Ghusun and Qaffin as part of the Water Authority's plan to solve the sewage problem in Shaarawy  . The Palestinian Government allocated 25 million shekels to set up a treatment plant serving the northern part of the Shaarawy area, work is underway to find funding of 20 million dollar for a sanitation project in underserved parts in the area.
