Minister Ghunaim meets with UNICEF Representative in Palestine

Ramallah: The Head of the Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim, met the UNICEF Representative in Palestine, Ms. Lucia Elmi, to discuss a range of issues related to the water sector and future mechanisms of action to support the sector.

Ms. Elmi explained that a project proposal would be submitted to the Green Climate Fund program to support water and environmental issues to monitor financial funding, as Palestine had previously obtained a project within the Green Climate Fund aimed at preserving the environment and supporting agricultural aspects in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting touched on ongoing projects such as the Yatta Water System Rehabilitation Project, the Phase II Desalination Plant Expansion Project, and UNICEF's support for the launch of the Youth Forum for Water as part of World Water Day events.

Eng. Ghunaim also touched on future strategic programs and projects that require financial support, particularly in marginalized areas and designated areas (c), and include them in UNICEF's support plan for the next three years to ensure that actual needs are provided in accordance with the Water Authority's development plan.

At the end of the meeting, Eng. Ghunaim invited Ms. Elmi to participate in the World Water Day event in Hebron governorate under the slogan "Groundwater - Making the Invisible Visible"
