Minister Ghunaim meets the representative of the Netherlands and discusses a range of issues

Ramallah: The head of Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghunaim met in his office today, Head of Mission of the Dutch Office to Palestine, Kiis Van Baer, to discuss the achievements and needs associated with the programs and projects funded by the Dutch government in the field of water and sanitation.

The meeting discussed several strategic issues, projects, and development programs in the water sector, which included developments in the process of institutionalizing the water sector and reform led by the Water Authority, and the next steps that will be implemented on the ground in terms of establishing water utilities and the National Water Company,  Eng. Ghunaim stressed the importance of Identify and prioritize the needs that contribute to the establishment of strong water utilities capable of providing high-quality, efficient and sustainable water service in light of the current circumstances and changes.

The meeting also discussed developments in the implementation of the Yatta water network project, which is financed by the Dutch government through UNICEF. In addition to the latest developments in the water sector, especially in light of the current political developments and their repercussions on the water sector and the new developments regarding the preventive measures taken by the Water Authority in light of the Coronavirus pandemic and the priorities for urgent needs to support water service providers. The meeting also highlighted the current political and economic conditions and their implications for the water sector, to find strategic solutions to jointly rectify them, under the exceptional circumstances that Palestine is going through.
